We redefine traditional parenting with a humanistic approach, focusing on conscious, respectful, warm human experiences during the pivotal first year of life and beyond. This approach positively impacts the early parental space in our modern, cognitive, and tech-driven world and is the beginning of a change in societal views on babies.

Our inspiring program provides interactive sessions that unlock the baby’s innate potential and enrich the essential aspects of the baby’s healthy growth. Through practical live demonstrations, we open up opportunities to promote the vital parent-child bond.

We firmly believe nurturing powerful parent-infant relationships lays the groundwork for a community that shapes future generations of resilient, thriving humans poised for a joyous lifetime.

Facts about your baby that no one will tell you. Did you know?

Babies are born intelligent

Newborn brains have around 100 billion neurons waiting to be sparked and connected right after birth, particularly during the first crucial 12 months. Pathways between neurons are formed through interactions, stimulations, and activities, including loving touch, attention, engagement, and movement. Initiated by the parent and self-initiated by the infant, these actions lead to solidified neural connections with repetitions. The significance of these early experiences cannot be overstated, as they lay the foundation for all future cognitive and emotional development, behavior, and health.

Babies cannot survive without being touched

Infants are programmed to sense a warm, loving human connection through touch. This foundational sense is vital for every baby. By reframing their perspective, parents can transform routine baby care into mindful opportunities fostering engaged care, promoting skin-to-skin connection paired with a nurturing tone of voice, and incorporating gentle massage time.

Humans have eight senses

You may know that humans have five senses: taste, smell, sight, hearing, and touch. You’ve probably heard someone saying, “Use your seventh sense!”. The fact behind this remark is that EIGHT senses make up our sensory system, not just five. Babies absorb information through all of them. Any instability in their foundational senses during the first year of life can impact subsequent developmental milestones, similar to building a house from the basement upward. All milestones are interconnected, like constructing each home floor before reaching the roof; the roof represents academic learning. A stable foundation and integrated sensory system in infancy pave the way for seamless learning. Enroll to learn more about how babies learn. Class Registration

Abbreviation of the eight senses
T = Tactile/Touch
G = Gustatory/Taste
A = Auditory/Hearing
I = Interoception/Internal Sensation
P = Proprioception/Body Awareness
Ve = Vestibular/Balance
O = Olfactory/Smell
Vi = Vision/Sight

Babies have sensitive periods of growth

Also known as “windows of opportunity,” these critical periods mark specific developmental milestones during the baby’s first year. Research indicates that neurons related to vision exhibit peak activity, sending messages back and forth most rapidly between 2-4 months, emphasizing the significance of this period for visual development.  Parents can learn how to enhance their baby’s vision through age-appropriate activities tailored to support optimal growth. Infants are born with more bones than adults

Most literature states newborns have about 300 bones, some say 270 bones, including six soft spots known as fontanelles. As the child grows, these soft and flexible spots gradually fuse over time, primarily in the skull and the growth plates of long bones. The initial flexibility in a baby’s elastic tissue, called cartilage, transforms into a bony structure, like in joins, ribs, and the spine, and the number of bones decreases. By adulthood, babies have between 206 and 213 bones. It’s essential to recognize this development and refrain from rushing babies through milestones such as crawling and sitting before they establish them by themselves. Allowing infants to progress through these stages naturally supports the formation of a healthy skeleton, strong muscles, and natural movement patterns.  Being mindful of these changes is important for overall well-being.

Bonding is not the same as attachment

Although closely related, these two processes are often mistakenly used interchangeably. Bonding serves as the precursor of attachment, with the parent initiating it towards their child through consistent responses with love and attention, starting before the child is born. Postnatally, the foundation for attachment is laid as parents respond promptly, sensitively, attuned, and as accurately as possible to the baby’s signals. Fine-tuned responsiveness seems to be the key to securely attached children. Attachment is characterized by specific behaviors in children, such as seeking closeness towards the attachment figure when upset or threatened*. Understanding the nuances between bonding and attachment is essential for parents to nurture a strong and healthy connection with their children from the beginning. The Power of Connection

BRAIN-BODY-BONDING

Baby Parent Steps coined the term Brain-Body-Bonding to emphasize three essential aspects of the transformative experience for new parents and their infants. We address and support these aspects, which include recognizing the interconnectedness of the parent-baby dyad as a unified entity during the crucial first year of life, nurturing the vital bonding process, understanding the brain changes in both the parent and the child, and fostering the baby’s whole development holistically as it progresses through the most rapid growth phase from infancy to toddlerhood.
